Great question here! I asked the same thing about 8 months ago except I already had a product to market…which was the wrong place to start!

The first thing you want to do is decide on a niche which is just a group of people to serve. It’s best to start with what YOU love to do, are really great at or even what you may have failed at miserably ( a what NOT to do site/product/service).

Then you want to do research on what your potential prospects are already looking for and what other online businesses are already filling the need.

You can do this using the keyword search tool. This will give you insights on how and what your ideal customers are looking for so you know how to attract them to your site through your content.

Your goal is to identify a hungry crowd of people and offer them solutions to the types of problems you can solve. To do this you must build a site from your buyers perspective.

Then you want to explore all the different ways to earn money with affiliate programs, e-book creation, selling ad space to the search engines, consultation fees, referral fees etc.

It’s a simple yet powerful formula called C=>T=>P=>M. It stands for Content, Traffic, Pre-selling and Monetize!

This is where I missed the boat in the beginning when I started with a product first… but I’ve straightened out my act now.
